The Orange Grove Volunteer Fire Company recently donated surplus equipment to San Marcos, Guatemala. A lot of the fire departments in Guatemala has very little fire fighting equipment. A lot of the Firefighters don’t even have turnout gear. The equipment donated by OGVFC included 8 sets of turnout gear, 2 ten foot sections of 5 inch hard suction and a 9 compartment SCBA spare air cylinder storage rack. That equipment was loaded on fire truck that was donated by the Oak Ridge Fire Department from Guilford County. Someone from San Marcos will fly to Raleigh to pick the truck up to make the 2800 mile trip to San Marcos. Thanks to David Pease from the “REDS Team” (Rescue Extrication Delivery Specialists) in Garner, NC for picking up the equipment and making the arrangements.
